WV Harvest’s ThoughtFoodness Project

West Virginia is taking bold steps to address its nutrition and health challenges through the ThoughtFoodness Project, led by WV Harvest. In a state where 41.6% of adults face obesity and 1 in 5 children experience hunger, ThoughtFoodness is working to bring positive change by increasing access to fresh, locally sourced fruits and vegetables.

Many rural communities struggle with limited access to healthy foods, creating food deserts that contribute to generational cycles of poor eating habits and chronic health conditions like diabetes and heart disease. The ThoughtFoodness initiative is actively changing this narrative, focusing on rural and underserved areas to ensure fresh, nutritious options are readily available.

By collaborating with local farmers and producers, WV Harvest is not only improving access to healthy foods but also uplifting communities. The project is creating new opportunities for families to enjoy fresh, affordable produce while building healthier, long-lasting eating habits.

ThoughtFoodness is helping to transform food access in West Virginia, making a brighter, healthier future possible for families across the state
